Athletics

Richard Winn sports have a long and successful history, dating back to over forty years of competition in various athletic contests across the state. The school proudly boasts of 13 state championships, beginning with boys’ basketball in 1973-74, and 19 State Runner-Up awards. The most recent championships include the 2007 AA Baseball Championship and back-to-back AA Golf Championships in 2007 and 2008.

Participation in athletics is encouraged as it gives students opportunity to learn teamwork skills that are used throughout every facet of life. Sports participation helps student-athletes develop the body as well as builds character and encourages comraderie with teammates and coaches.

Richard Winn employs a full-time athletic director who oversees the athletic program. The teams compete in the South Carolina Independent Athletic Association (SCISAA) and with some nearby public schools. Varsity Sports include:
