Academics
RWA students consistently score above the state of S.C. average on both SAT and ACT. The top 25% of the class of 2007 scored an average of 1184 on the SAT. The overall SAT average of the class of 2007 was 1033. Performance after leaving RWA is also an important factor in measuring the success of the overall program. Students are tracked through their first semester in college, and one-half of the grades received by the class of 2006 after that first college semester were A’s and B’s. The class of 2007 collectively received over $1.7 million in scholarships.
Richard Winn uses the South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale. Due to Richard Winn’s strong academic program and relatively small senior class, a report of class rank would be statistically invalid. Consequently, class rankings are calculated only for in-house use and are generally not included on the school transcript. Only core subjects that are taken for high school credit are used in these calculations, with honors and AP courses given additional weight.
